UF Health Shands Hospital was recently honored with the Greenhealth Emerald Award from Practice Greenhealth in recognition of its commitment to sustainability.
The competitive Greenhealth Emerald Award recognizes outstanding hospitals from within Partner for Change applicants. It recognizes the top 20 percent of applicants and is focused on advanced sustainability programs and exemplary scores in a range of categories.
This is the fourth year in a row that UF Health Shands has been recognized by Practice Greenhealth for its efforts to create more sustainable practices within the institution.
Lauren Berkow, M.D., FASA, professor of anesthesiology and chief of the Division of Neuroanesthesia, established the UF Health Sustainability Committee and currently serves as the committee’s co-chair. She plays an integral role in our institution’s various initiatives to improve environmental performance.
This year, UF Health was also honored with the Greening the OR Recognition Award from Practice Greenhealth. The Greening the OR Initiative recognizes hospitals that have made substantial strides in improving environmental performance in the operating room.
Congratulations and thank you Dr. Berkow for your tireless commitment to sustainability!
