GRAVENSTEIN SCHOLARS PROGRAM

The Gravenstein Scholars Program, named in honor of the Gravenstein family members who have contributed so significantly to anesthesiology at the University of Florida, was established to increase the number of anesthesiology residents at UF who choose academic careers, increase the research productivity and contributions of anesthesiology residents, and prepare anesthesiology residents to conduct productive, independent research.

Anesthesiology Fund

This fund helps support the UF Department of Anesthesiology purchase services and equipment needed for day-to-day operations.

Endowment

T.W. Andersen, M.D., & Haven M. Perkins, M.D., Educational Endowment

This fund was established in 2000 in memory of Drs. Thorkild W. Andersen and Haven M. Perkins for the purpose of supporting advanced educational experiences for residents and fellows in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Florida College of Medicine.

This fund was established in 2008 to support teaching and academic programs including a term professorship or faculty fellowship in critical care medicine in the College of Medicine.

J.S. Gravenstein, M.D., Endowed Professorship

The J.S. Gravenstein Professorship in Anesthesiology was established to honor the memory of Dr. Joachim Stefan Gravenstein, who founded the division of anesthesiology at UF in 1959. By endowing faculty positions, donors create streams of funding to enable faculty to discover and invent what we can only now imagine.

Jerome H. Modell, M.D., Endowed Professorship

Jerome H. Modell, M.D., Endowed Professorship was established to honor Dr. Jerry Modell who served the University of Florida College of Medicine for more than 43 years before his retirement. In 1969, he was named the second chair of the department of anesthesiology, a position he held for 23 years.
