About Cameron R Smith

My name is Cameron Smith, MD, PhD, and I am an associate professor with the UF Department of Anesthesiology, as well as the clinical director of research for the Division of Acute and Perioperative Pain Medicine. I’m also the assistant director of the North American Malignant Hyperthermia Registry, which is housed at the University of Florida.

I joined the department in 2017 as an assistant professor in the Division of Acute and Perioperative Pain Medicine. I earned my medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, where I also completed a PhD in physiology and biophysics. Here at the University of Florida, I completed both my anesthesiology residency and an acute and perioperative pain medicine fellowship. I also completed a research fellowship at UF as the Gravenstein Scholar in Clinical and Translational Science.

Outside of work, I’m an avid SCUBA diver and an accomplished bassist.
