Erika D Taco Vasquez, MD
Assistant Professor Of Anesthesiology
About Erika D Taco Vasquez
My name is Erika Taco Vasquez, MD, and I joined the Department of Anesthesiology in 2024 as an assistant professor in the Division of Acute Pain Medicine. I earned my medical degree at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador School of Medicine in Ecuador and was a clinical research fellow in pain management at Cleveland Clinic Foundation. I then completed my anesthesiology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI, followed by a regional anesthesiology fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA.
I decided to become an anesthesiologist after working with one during my medical school rotations. Her tranquility during stressful situations inspired me to also become a physician that can keep calm during complicated cases. I love to take care of patients and support them through challenging and potentially scary times, such as surgery. My areas of expertise include nerve blocks, and I’m also interested in learning how to integrate yoga practice into orthopedic medicine.
In my free time, I enjoy all kinds of sports, including running, biking, and yoga. I also enjoy ballet and salsa dancing.
