About Charlie Slowey

My name is Charlie Slowey, MB, BCh, BAO, and I joined the Department of Anesthesiology in 2024 as an assistant professor in the Divisions of Cardiothoracic Anesthesia and Critical Care Medicine. I received my medical degree from University College Cork, Ireland, where I graduated with honors. I completed my anesthesiology residency, a critical care medicine fellowship, and a cardiothoracic anesthesia fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD.

My clinical interests include critically ill patients, post-cardiac surgery patients, trauma patients, and liver transplant patients. I also specialize in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and and I am active in the research of these patients.

In my spare time, I enjoy fantasy novels, home baking, and playing rugby. I am currently playing for the Gainesville Rugby team and have previously represented my country in international competitions.
