Spencer D Moreland, MD

My name is Spencer Moreland, M.D., and I joined the UF Department of Anesthesiology in 2024 as an assistant professor in the Division of Critical Care Medicine. I earned my medical degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa Bay, FL, and completed my anesthesiology residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. I then completed a fellowship in critical care medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

I became a physician because I’ve enjoyed the life sciences since I was very young and I always wanted a challenging job where I could directly help people. I think it’s very rewarding to take care of sick people and help them and their families through what can be difficult and stressful times. My research and academic interests include active airway management, sedation in the ICU, transthoracic echocardiography, and mechanical circulatory support.

I’m a grateful husband to my wife and a proud father to our two children. In my free time, I enjoy spending time outside; fishing, hiking, and family walks are some of my favorites.
