Lauren H Callahan

My name is Lauren Callahan, M.D., and I am an assistant professor in the UF Department of Anesthesiology’s Division of Multispecialty Anesthesiology. The field of anesthesiology uniquely aligns with my passion for procedural medicine, complex physiology, collaborative teamwork, and the opportunity to support patients through some of their most vulnerable and emotionally challenging moments.

I earned my medical degree from the University of Central Florida College of Medicine and completed my anesthesiology residency at Emory University. I also have a Bachelor of Arts in public health studies and behavioral biology from Johns Hopkins University.

As a medical student, I was a Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research Medical Student Anesthesia Research Fellowship recipient and won first place for medical student abstract. During residency, I gave a department-wide grand rounds lecture regarding the use of biomarkers for preoperative cardiac optimization in non-cardiac surgery. My research has focused on topics like intraoperative cerebral oxygenation, electroencephalography, and delirium following cardiac surgery.
