About Thomas M Austin
My name is Thomas Austin, MD, MS, and I joined the department of anesthesiology in 2022 with a focus on pediatric anesthesia. I received my bachelor’s degree in chemistry/physics at the University of West Florida, my medical degree at Vanderbilt University and finally a master’s degree in statistics at Texas A&M University. I did my residency in anesthesiology and my fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at Vanderbilt University.
I am now a professor of anesthesiology and the associate chief in the division of pediatric anesthesia. My research interests include determining limitations in statistical modeling with regards to study reproducibility and study design and statistical analysis education. On the clinical side, I have expertise in pediatric spine cases, pediatric liver and renal transplant, craniosynostosis repair, and pediatric airway.
In my free time, I enjoy working around my house and on my yard as well as spending time with my family.
