Dan Heath, DO, is currently a CA-2 anesthesiology resident.
Dr. Heath received his DO at Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines, IA, before beginning his residency at the University of Florida.
“I chose to train at UF because it provided the acuity and case load of a large tertiary care center in a livable and family-friendly city. We have a large enough program that our call schedule is not strenuous and our faculty and staff work hard to maintain a family feel. I truly feel like the department cares about each of its residents.
What impressed me most when applying to the program was the nationwide network of alumni that the University has. When finding a job in anesthesia nothing helps more than having alumni in groups around the nation and training at a facility with an excellent reputation.

Our attending physicians are incredibly patient and have a passion for teaching. They truly care about the education of the residents and are open to suggestions when it comes to the resident curriculum.
My spouse and children have loved living in Gainesville. There are endless activities nearby including Disney and Universal Studios, sporting events (collegiate and professional teams nearby), beaches and natural springs. Our call schedule, which includes working 1 out of 4 weekends, makes weekend trips and exploring Florida possible.
I have no doubt that after my four years here I will be prepared for anything that my career will challenge me with.”
