Dr. TJ Gallagher was Chief of this Division from 1981 to 2003. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology (1978) and holds a certificate of special qualifications in Critical Care Medicine (1986). He completed his Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at the University of Miami in 1976. He has previously been President of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, President of the Florida Society of Critical Care Medicine, and President of the American Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists. Dr. Gallagher is an Oral Examiner for the American Board of Anesthesiology. His current research interests include sepsis, transfusion therapy, and respiratory failure.

Dr. Gallagher was instrumental in educating the healthcare community “on the value of multidisciplinary-trained critical care specialties.”
