Martynyuk Laboratory: Neurosciences in Anesthesiology

Dr. Anatoly Martynyuk is a Professor of Anesthesiology and Neuroscience in the divisions of Research and Neuroanesthesia and a member of the McKnight Brain Institute. Dr. Martynyuk earned a Master of Science degree from Kiev State University as well as his PhD and DSc in biophysics from Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology in Kiev, Ukraine. Following this, he completed a postdoctoral training at University of Glasgow, Glasgow, UK.

Dr. Martynyuk is a biophysicist and neuroscientist investigating mechanisms of developmental neurobehavioral effects of exposure to general anesthetic agents. His research interests also extend to mechanisms of brain dysfunction in phenylketonuria, as well as to new therapeutic approaches to treat stroke and supraventricular tachycardia. He has published his research in various journals, including Molecular Psychiatry, Brain, Circulation, Stroke, Anesthesiology, and the British Journal of Anaestesia.

Dr. Martynyuk has been a principal investigator on projects funded by the National Institute of General Medicine and National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. Dr. Martynyuk has extensive collaborative links within the University of Florida and internationally. He currently serves as a foreign collaborator on three research grants funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Dr. Martynyuk is on editorial boards of several scientific journals and serves as a reviewer of research grants for NIH and many foreign agencies.
