Please help us welcome Shahrukh Bengali, M.D., to the University of Florida (UF) Department of Anesthesiology. He joins us as an assistant professor in the Division of Pain Medicine.
Prior to joining our department faculty, Bengali was a fellow in the endoscopic spine surgery program. As a fellow, he received training in minimally invasive spine procedures and collaborated with program director Sanjeev Kumar, M.D., on research focused on awake ambulatory spine surgery. Before his fellowship, he worked as an interventional pain and spine physician for Interventional Medical Associates in Gainesville.
Bengali earned his medical degree from the UF College of Medicine. He completed his anesthesiology residency and a multidisciplinary pain medicine fellowship here in our department. He earned his Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary studies in biology and medicine from UF and a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering from the University of Miami.
Bengali’s goal is to provide the least invasive treatment possible for patients while helping them achieve lasting relief. He defines success as helping patients restore function, return to activities they enjoy, and achieve meaningful improvement in their lives.
In his spare time, he enjoys playing basketball and volleyball and spending time with his family.
