Please help us welcome David Fishman, M.D., FASA, and Lauren Callahan, M.D., to the UF Department of Anesthesiology. They join the Division of Multispecialty Anesthesiology as an associate professor and an assistant professor, respectively.
Fishman was recently an associate professor of anesthesiology at North Shore University Hospital, where he was also a part of its clinical competence committee. Prior to this position, he was the clinical director and the residency program director at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He received Teacher of the Year from Suny’s Department of Anesthesiology three times.
Fishman earned his medical degree from SUNY Health Science Center. He also completed his anesthesiology residency at SUNY Health, where he was a chief resident. Before his residency, he completed an internship in medicine at Long Island College Hospital. He has a Bachelor of Arts from New York University.
In his spare time, Fishman enjoys cooking, baking, watching British crime dramas, and swimming.
Callahan earned her medical degree from the University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Medicine (COM). She completed her anesthesiology residency at Emory University. She has a Bachelor of Arts in public health studies and behavioral biology from Johns Hopkins University.
During medical school, Callahan was awarded the UCF COM Institutional Scholarship and was the recipient of the Medical Student Anesthesia Research Fellowship from the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research. Through this fellowship, she won first place in the category “Medical Student Abstract” for her abstract. Her most recent research focused on intraoperative cerebral oxygenation, electroencephalography, and delirium following cardiac surgery.
In her spare time, Callahan enjoys spending time with her husband and miniature Australian shepherd, walking trails, and trying new restaurants.
