Please welcome Juan Carlos Fiorda Diaz, M.D., and Jeeva George, MBBS, M.D., D.M., to the UF Department of Anesthesiology. They both join us as assistant professors in the Division of Neuroanesthesiology.

Prior to joining us, Fiorda Diaz was a clinical assistant professor at the University of Iowa Department of Anesthesia. He earned his medical degree from La Universidad del Zulia in Venezuela, where he also completed his anesthesiology residency. He finished his neuroanesthesia fellowship at Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center.
Fiorda Diaz has an extensive research background. He has been a co-investigator or sub-investigator for more than 90 trials, including one about the utilization of point-of-care ultrasonography to assess hemodynamics and lung pathology in COVID-19 patients. He has also co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications as well as some book chapters. Additionally, he serves as a journal reviewer for three journals, one being Frontiers in Medicine.
In his free time, Fiorda Diaz enjoys cooking, hiking, and learning new languages.

George was a neuroanesthesia and neurocritical care consultant at Caritas Hospital in India before joining us. She received her MBBS degree from the Christian Medical College in India, where she also completed a medical degree in anesthesiology. She earned her Doctor of Medicine in neuroanesthesia and neurocritical care at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences, a pioneer in comprehensive epilepsy care and a leading quaternary referral center.
George’s research interests focus on transcranial Doppler and intraoperative neuromonitoring, specifically investigating their role in optimizing patient safety and significantly improving postoperative outcomes. In 2022, she received first prize in the “Free Paper” category at the Indian Society of Neuroanesthesiology and Critical Care meeting for her presentation “Evaluation of transcranial Doppler velocity variations and cerebral oxygenation using NIRS.”
In her free time, George enjoys spending time with her family and exploring the outdoors.
