
Please help us welcome Zeeshan Khan, Ph.D., to the UF Department of Anesthesiology. He joined us as an assistant scientist in our Research Division.
Khan has worked as a post-doctoral researcher in the laboratory of Anatoly Martynyuk, Ph.D., professor of anesthesiology and neuroscience, for three years. He has played an integral role in major projects; the most recent project focused on the effects of the brain-gut-microbiome axis on perioperative neurocognitive disorders. He has presented on their findings at several conferences and events, including the department’s own Celebration of Research. Khan earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree in biotechnology from Gauhati University in India.
Khan has also gained research experience in South Korea and India. At Inje University in South Korea, he was a co-investigator for a project that focused on the development of therapeutics against stroke. At the Translational Health Science and Technology Institute in India, his team sought a way to improve the diagnosis of acute typhoid.
He is currently the president of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Educational Trust, an organization supporting Indian individuals interested in education. He is also an auditor for Badlao Foundation, an organization dedicated to the societal uplifting of people living in poverty.
