
The University of Florida (UF) Department of Anesthesiology is pleased to announce John Heinbockel, M.D., MSEE, assistant professor of anesthesiology, was appointed the medical director for the UF Health Ocala Neighborhood Hospital. In this role, Heinbockel will develop systems for patient flow, optimize preoperative services, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and plan budgets for surgical services.
Heinbockel joined the department in 2023 as an assistant professor in the Divisions of Neuroanesthesiology and Liver & Transplant Anesthesiology. He earned his medical degree from the University of South Florida and completed his anesthesiology residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He also has a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Central Florida. Throughout his career, he has focused on neurosurgical diseases and liver, kidney, and pancreas transplants.
