Tim Feldheim, M.D., assistant professor of anesthesiology, and Juan Mora, M.D., associate professor of anesthesiology, recently completed the UF College of Medicine Leadership Development Program, which seeks to enhance the skills of current faculty leaders.
The program uses the UF Leadership Competency Model as a guide and allows participants to identify key competencies, such as building trust, advancing one’s vision, generating alignment, and cultivating talent.
Feldheim is an assistant program director for the department’s residency program, while Mora is the medical director for UF Health Pain Medicine – Ayers. By participating in these sessions, they enhanced their management and leadership skills. “It was a great experience to participate in the program,” said Mora. “This course helped me gain greater awareness of my strengths and areas for growth, and it provided me with valuable tools to optimize and apply my skills more effectively for the benefit of our team.”
Feldheim and Mora also interacted with other UF College of Medicine faculty leaders in facilitated discussions and scenarios, where they created new ways to increase team effectiveness and success. “The program was a wonderful opportunity to not only learn different techniques and styles of leadership in medicine, but to also collaborate with clinicians and researchers of other departments who are taking on leadership roles within their own divisions,” said Feldheim. “With that came connections and friendships that will hopefully strengthen the UF Medical community as a whole.”
Congratulations, Drs. Feldheim and Mora!
