The University of Florida (UF) Department of Anesthesiology leadership team has named three new clinical directors of research. Congratulations to Sebastián Gatica-Morris, M.D., T. Everett Jones, M.D., and Gevalin Srisooksai, M.D., on their appointments.
Gatica-Morris will serve as the clinical director of research for the Division of Neuroanesthesiology. He joined the department in 2019 after completing neuroanesthesiology and critical care fellowships at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Additionally, he earned a subspecialty certification in neurocritical care, which was co-sponsored by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Anesthesiology.
Jones will serve as the clinical director of research for the Division of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology. He completed his cardiothoracic anesthesiology fellowship with us in 2018 after which he joined our faculty. Jones is currently the principal investigator for a couple of clinical trials in the department. He was awarded an I. Heermann Anesthesia Foundation grant in 2024 and has received Exemplary Teacher Awards from the UF College of Medicine twice.
Srisooksai will serve as the clinical director of research for the Division of Perioperative Medicine. She joined our faculty in 2021 after completing a neuroanesthesiology fellowship and her anesthesiology residency here with us at the UF Department of Anesthesiology.
These leadership positions were created to further develop the research efforts, resources, and methodologies within the divisions. Along with the other directors, they will increase scholarly research and activity across the department and its clinical divisions. In addition, they will act as liaisons between the clinical faculty and the research infrastructure within the department and will be advisors for their colleagues.
