She has been invited to join the BMC Medical Education journal as an editorial board member. Additionally, a paper that she co-authored has been recognized with an award by the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) society.
The BMC Medical Education journal publishes peer-reviewed research articles, relating to education and the training of health care professionals. In this position, she will review manuscripts, act as an ambassador for the journal, network with other experts, and make contributions to the medical community.
The ASES society focuses on advancing the science and medical practice of shoulder and elbow care as well as publishing scientific materials. The organization has awarded Vasilopoulos’s paper, “Does hydrogen peroxide application to the dermis following surgical incision affect cutibacterium acnes cultures in total shoulder arthroplasty in male patient? A randomized controlled trial,” with the 2025 Neviaser Award in Clinical Science. The paper met the society’s standards for various criteria, such as originality and methodology of study.
Vasilopoulos’s achievements show her commitment to the fields of anesthesiology and orthopaedics as well as her interest in medical journals.
Congratulations, Dr. Vasilopoulos!
