Georgeanna “Georgie” Tsoumas, D.O., has been recognized by the UF Society of Teaching Scholars as the 2025 Outstanding Resident Educator of the Year for the Department of Anesthesiology. This award is given each year to one resident from every department.
Tsoumas is in her final year of residency and is one of our chief residents. She has exceptional ratings on her evaluations and clearly cares about teaching medical students and residents. “I am very honored to receive this resident teaching award,” Tsoumas said. “I’m so grateful that I get to be a part of student education while doing what I love!”
On her evaluations, medical students and other residents praise her for her patience and excellent communication skills. “She is always well prepared and willing to help wherever needed,” read one of the comments. “Very good communicator and has the respect of her fellow residents and faculty.”
Tsoumas was honored along with the outstanding residents from the other departments at the UF College of Medicine’s Celebration of Excellence in Medical Education Reception on April 4.
