Asad Bashir, M.D., FAAP, and Kenneth John, M.D., joined the UF Department of Anesthesiology as assistant professors in September. Bashir joined the Division of Liver & Transplant Anesthesiology and John joined the Division of Critical Care Medicine.
Bashir received his medical degree from Shifa College of Medicine in Islamabad, Pakistan, before coming to the University of Florida for a pediatric residency. After his pediatric residency, Bashir completed an anesthesiology residency with us.
Bashir is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. His professional interests include liver transplant anesthesiology, point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), and medical education. In his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors, trying new restaurants, tennis, and cricket.
John received his medical degree from Pennsylvania State University in Hershey, PA, and completed an internal medicine internship with them. After his internship, John completed an anesthesiology residency at Brown University and a critical care medicine fellowship at Harvard University.
John earned the ASA Diagnostic POCUS Certification in 2022. He is interested in medical education, especially the transition from traditional teaching models to multimedia platforms such as podcasts and videos. In his free time, he enjoys biking, paddle boarding, golf, pickleball, and traveling.
