June Faculty Educator of the Month

Dustin Hegland, MD

Congratulations to Dustin Hegland, M.D., who was named by our residents as the June Faculty Educator of the Month! Dr. Hegland is a physician at Malcom Randall Veteran Affairs Medical Center and is a courtesy clinical assistant professor with our department.

Read on for some of the highlights from his nominations.

“Dr. Hegland is a top-shelf attending. He’s awesome to work with in the OR. I appreciate the time he takes in the OR to teach. Throughout the day he is constantly asking, “comments, questions, concerns, general things on your mind?” and then takes the time to address whatever you bring up. Aside from being an incredible educator, he’s an awesome mentor. He holds financial group meetings at his house to answer questions residents/fellows have. We are fortunate to get to work with him!”

“Dr. Hegland is a strong advocate for trainee wellness and continuously offers clinical teaching relevant to practice. He is also a fantastic role model for his bedside manner. UF is lucky to have him teach trainees at our partner VA hospital system in general and cardiac anesthesia.”

“Amazing instructor and incredibly detail oriented. Excellent at explaining rationale, thought processes, and providing technical instruction.”

Thank you for your hard work, Dr. Hegland!
