We are thrilled to announce that several faculty members from the Department of Anesthesiology were honored at the 2024 UF College of Medicine Spring Faculty Assembly on May 28.
Dr. Laurie Davies: Excellence in Clinical Practice
Laurie Davies, M.D., associate professor of anesthesiology, joint professor of surgery, and medical director of the Shands operating rooms, was recognized with the 2024 Clinical Excellence Award. This award distinguishes faculty across the college who set the standard for patient care, clinical innovation, and mentorship.
Dr. Juan Mora: Rising Star in Anesthesiology
Juan Mora, M.D., assistant professor of anesthesiology and medical director of the Pain Medicine Surgical Center, received the Rising Star Award. This honor is given to clinical faculty who are early in their careers and demonstrate outstanding skill and enthusiasm in patient care, and a forward-thinking approach to medical innovation.
Erica Dale, Ph.D., president of the UF College of Medicine Faculty Council, expressed her gratitude: “Our colleagues, trainees, patients, and community thank you for all you have done and will do,” she wrote in a congratulatory email to Davies and Mora.
Departmental Honors
While Davies and Mora were recognized college-wide, each department also celebrated their exceptional faculty. Meghan Brennan, M.D., M.S., assistant professor of anesthesiology, was honored with the anesthesiology departmental Rising Star Award.
Additionally, Chris Giordano, M.D., FASA, professor of anesthesiology, was highlighted for his Phase 2/3 Teacher of the Year Award, which he received at an earlier reception. His dedication to education and mentorship continues to inspire the next generation of anesthesiologists.
Congratulations to all!
