Lauren Berkow, M.D., FASA, professor of anesthesiology and chief of the division of neuroanesthesiology, is the primary investigator for the University of Florida on a new multicenter, international study.
The International obServational sTudy on AiRway manaGement in operAting room and non-operaTing room anesthEsia (STARGATE) study will collect data from a network numbering more than 200 sites in more than 50 countries.
“This study was initiated by many of the same investigators (and airway colleagues of mine) who did the very well-done INTUBE study looking at airway management in ICU patients, so this study is similar,” said Berkow. “We’ll be looking at airway management practices as well as airway related complications in the OR and non-OR anesthetizing locations.”
