In June, twenty-two of our residents took the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) BASIC Examination for the first time and all twenty-two of them passed, giving us a 100% pass rate!
BASIC is the first written exam of the ABA board certification process and is administered to approximately 1,600 residents at the end of their first clinical year (CA-1). The first-time failure rate for this exam nationally is about 10%. Our 100% pass rate is a direct testament to all the hard work and study of these residents and the teaching and advice of our faculty.
Residents experience a steep learning curve during the CA-1 year and our department makes every effort to ensure our residents are well prepared. Many thanks to all of the faculty and staff who aided our residents in their studies and preparation.
Congratulations to all!
