We are pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Andoniadis, M.D., as the chief of the Division of Multispecialty Anesthesiology. As chief, Andoniadis will represent our largest group of physician anesthesiologists and serve as a liaison with various departments and divisions.
In his new role, Andoniadis will assume a range of responsibilities. These include providing stable leadership, fostering a supportive culture, advocating for faculty development and collaboration, overseeing evaluations and personnel matters, managing educational activities, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards, supporting research endeavors, identifying recruitment opportunities, and promoting diversity and inclusion.
Andoniadis joined our department in 2017 as an assistant professor of anesthesiology and has since made significant contributions. He currently serves as the assistant medical director of Non-Operating Room Anesthesia and as the compliance officer for the department. Moreover, he was selected by our faculty to represent anesthesiology on the UF College of Medicine Faculty Council in 2019, where he served a two-year term.
Prior to joining our institution, Andoniadis amassed over twenty years of experience in private practice as an anesthesiologist, specializing as a cardiac anesthesiologist for a decade. He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed his anesthesiology residency here at the University of Florida. Andoniadis possesses proficiency in all areas of anesthesia, with notable expertise in cardiac procedures, transesophageal echocardiogram, obstetrics, and ultrasound-guided regional blocks.
