Brenda Fahy, M.D., MCCM, professor of anesthesiology, associate chair of faculty affairs and professional development, and program director of the Adult Combined Cardiothoracic Critical Care Fellowship, has been voted into the University of Florida Society of Teaching Scholars. Current members of the Society chose to induct Fahy based on her education credentials. “We recognize your ongoing commitment to education and know that you will continue to be an exemplary role model to other faculty, fellows, and students,” said Erik Black, Ph.D., Chair for the Society of Teaching Scholars Nomination Committee, in an email to Fahy.
The mission of the Society of Teaching Scholars at UF is “to honor and foster teaching and educational scholarship”. In addition to Fahy’s role as associate chair of faculty affairs and professional development for the department, she serves as co-chair on the department’s Wellness Committee and earned the Consultant Certification from the International Mentoring Association in August 2022. In conjunction with Cyndi Garvan, Ph.D., and Terrie Vasilopoulos, Ph.D., Fahy is working to expand and study a formalized mentoring program in the department.
Fahy’s induction into the Society occurred at the Annual Celebration of Excellence in Medical Education Reception on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.
Congratulations, Dr. Fahy!
