Yong G. Peng, M.D., Ph.D., FASE, FASA, professor of anesthesiology and chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Anesthesia, has become the first in the department to earn the newly updated Diagnostic POCUS Certificate from the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA).
The educational certificate is the only program created by anesthesiologists for anesthesiologists and has been enhanced to align with new American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) content guidelines.
The multilayered program prepares anesthesiologists to efficiently develop and demonstrate mastery of heart, lung, and gastric diagnostic point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), as well as the Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma (FAST) examination. It prepares anesthesiologists to expand their practice’s capabilities, improve their bedside diagnostic skills, and stand out to credentialing and privileging bodies.
Peng intends to serve as our institutional mentor for the certificate program.
Congratulations, Dr. Peng!
