Thousands of anesthesiology professionals from around the world attended the 2021 American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) Annual Meeting held Oct. 9-12 in San Diego, CA.
The meeting is the world’s largest anesthesia-educational event focused on the science and practice of anesthesiology. It allows anesthesiology professionals to connect and learn about the latest advances and technologies. For many, it was the first in-person meeting in nearly two years. A virtual track was also offered.
Our department was well represented at the meeting, with numerous faculty, fellows and residents attending, presenting and giving lectures or workshops.
For residents, ASA provided a valuable way to collaborate with various experts.
“ASA was a wonderful event that allowed the gathering and collaboration of many different providers from across the country to share recent thoughts, research, and discoveries,” said Lida Esfandiary, M.D., a third-year resident who presented two medically challenging cases. “It’s truthfully a unique perspective seeing so many pioneers in the field of anesthesia helping to advance the field while also very passionate for their line of work. “
The 2022 Annual Meeting will be held Oct. 22-26 in New Orleans, LA.
