Dr. Lauren Berkow promoted to Chief of the Division of Neuroanesthesia

Dr. Lauren Berkow

The department is pleased to announce that Lauren C. Berkow, MD, FASA, has been promoted to Chief of the Division of Neuroanesthesia.

Since joining us in 2016, Dr. Berkow, Professor of Anesthesiology and Director of Anesthesia Supplies and Equipment, has made substantial contributions to our institution’s sustainability and patient care initiatives. She has been a prolific contributor to the literature on airway management and serves as President of the Society for Airway Management.

Dr. Berkow also has deep expertise in neuroanesthesia, having previously served as Associate Chief for the Division of Neuroanesthesia at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, and currently serving on the American Society of Anesthesiologists’ Committee on Neuroanesthesia.

Dr. Berkow’s skill and commitment make her extremely well positioned to lead the Division of Neuroanesthesia. Congratulations, Dr. Berkow!

We would also like to extend a big thank you to Dr. Christoph Seubert, who successfully led this division as its Chief from 2006-2020 and embraced the tripartite mission. Dr. Seubert led us through the opening of HVN, the creation of the stroke center, evolution of intraoperative electrophysiological monitoring clinical care and education offerings, and constant progression of neurosurgical care.
