Dr. Przkora appointed to Scientific Advisory Board of AUA

Rene Przkora, MD, PhD, has been appointed as a new member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Association of University Anesthesiologists (AUA).

Membership appointments to the board are for a 3-year term, after which time members can reapply for membership. The board is responsible for oversight of the scientific program for the AUA’s Annual Meeting as well as review and selection of abstracts. The board also provides quarterly articles for the AUA newsletter.

The board meets in person during the AUA Annual Meeting and holds as-needed virtual meetings and phone conferences throughout the year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s board meeting during the AUA conference has been canceled and a virtual meeting is planned.

The current chair of the board is Ines Koerner, MD, PhD, Professor of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University.

AUA’s mission is to encourage its members to pursue original clinical and laboratory investigations, develop teaching, and promote the free and informal interchange of ideas.

Dr. Przkora, Professor of Anesthesiology, Chief of the Pain Medicine Division, and Program Director of the Multidisciplinary Pain Medicine Fellowship, is also President of the Association of Pain Program Directors. He promotes his core specialty and subspecialties through various other roles on the national and state level as well.
