UF Health Accuity Invitational Golf Classic Raises $35,000 for Ronald McDonald House

On February 22, 2020, members of our department along with colleagues across UF Health came out to the Haile Plantation Golf and Country Club to play some golf for a good cause. 14 teams of 48 anesthesiology residents, faculty, and advanced practice providers participated in the UF Health Accuity Invitational Golf Classic.

This year’s Classic raised $35,000 for the Ronald McDonal House (RMHC) Charities of North Central Florida. With this donation, they will be purchasing new refrigerators for the families along with new comforters and pillows.

RMHC North Central Florida provides the comforts of home to families traveling to Gainesville, FL to seek medical care for their child. In 2019, they provided 844 families lodging for 10,532 nights. These families stayed an average of 46 days.

Sherry Houston, Executive Director of RMHC North Central Florida, was pleased with the turnout and support. “We are honored to be chosen as the benefiting charity for the UF Health Accuity Invitational Golf Classic. We have a great partnership with UF Health, keeping their pediatric patient families close to the hospital in a homelike environment. Every year the event grows and we are able to impact more families with their support”, she said.

Many thanks to all of our players and team sponsors.
