Drs. Giordano & Bannister Elected into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society

Chris Giordano, MD, Associate Professor of Anesthesiology, and Lee Bannister, MD, Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellow, have been elected into Alpha Omega Alpha (AΩA).

Founded in 1902, AΩA is the national medical honor society. The AΩA is dedicated to the belief that in the profession of medicine we will improve care for all by recognizing high educational achievement; honoring gifted teaching; encouraging the development of leaders in academia and the community; supporting the ideals of humanism; and promoting service to others.

Dr. Giordano is the chief for the Division of Liver and Transplant Anesthesiology and the Director of the Anesthesiology/Critical Care Clerkship. He loves teaching and dedicates his time to education. The ability to teach was one of the main reasons he came to the University of Florida and he has won numerous awards for excellence in teaching including the College of Medicine Hippocratic Award for excellence in teaching and mentorship.

Dr. Bannister completed his anesthesiology residency with us in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Florida in 2019. In his third year, he won the Outstanding Resident award in the division of Multispecialty Anesthesiology. He began his Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology fellowship with us in September, 2019.

There will be a banquet honoring the new inductees on March 19, 2020. Congratulations, doctors!
