Dr. McGough Appointed Interim Division Chief for CCM

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Edward McGough, MD, to Interim Division Chief of the Critical Care Medicine Division, Department of Anesthesiology.

Dr. McGough, Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Program Director of the Cardiothoracic Anesthesia Fellowship, completed his residency as well as a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine in our department. In 2016, he returned to us after working in private practice and has made a tremendous impact on our department with his consistently positive attitude and personable demeanor.

Dr. McGough is a Diplomate for the American Board of Anesthesiology in anesthesiology and critical care medicine and for the National Board of Echocardiography in advanced perioperative transesophageal echocardiography; he also holds a special Certificate of Competency in Critical Care. He has contributed several peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters to the cardiothoracic and critical care literature, and he has been honored with the Exemplary Teacher Award for three consecutive years. Additionally, Dr. McGough consulted with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Space Shuttle project, medical launch, and recovery.

As the Interim Division Chief, Dr. McGough will assure that patients receive outstanding care and serve as a contact point for faculty and staff to discuss concerns.
