Three of Our Staff Win Superior Accomplishment Awards

Amy Gunnett, RN, and Ricky McHugh won 2019 Superior Accomplishment Awards and Colleen Kearney won the Division Five Community Service Award!

Amy is wholeheartedly devoted to the UF Office of Research mission to achieve the distinction of national research excellence. As the Lead Research Coordinator and Quality Assurance Officer, our department faculty, staff, fellows and residents turn to Amy with well-deserved confidence and trust. She effortlessly balances competing demands for her time and energy. Always a smile, always prepared, always works hard to get a great deal of complicated deliverables not only done, but also done in an exemplary fashion.

Ricky manages the daily lives of over 80 residents across more than 40 rotations, three towers, and a multitude of anesthetizing locations, and she exceeds all expectations as a residency program coordinator. What makes Ricky especially deserving of this recognition, though, is not found in her job description. She deserves this recognition not because of her administrative excellence, but because of the ingenuity and heart she applies to her work every day. She is an everyday sounding board and confidant to our residents as well as a safety net to those in need.

Colleen is an integral part of our Faculty Support Services team, one that we very much lean on. Colleen is always willing to help out and fill in where needed for the team. She has a diverse compilation of skills that play an integral part in supporting our department mission on top of which she supports many community activities outside the university. Colleen participates in Multiple Sclerosis events with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society North Florida Chapter. She also participates in the UF Arts in Medicine dance study program.

The Superior Accomplishment Awards represent an opportunity for all of us to recognize and thank members of our organization for their outstanding contributions. This is a chance to celebrate the work that helps promote our missions and create the momentum and success in achieving our goals at the University of Florida. Equally, it tells those nominated that their above-and-beyond attitude and contributions do not go unnoticed. The Superior Accomplishment Award recognizes members of our organization who have shown, through their work, outstanding contributions and meritorious service that has helped to create an environment that makes UF a great place to be.
