The Department of Anesthesiology’s new Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship will be offered for the first time this year, with its first fellow joining the department in July.
As the department’s fourth ACGME-accredited fellowship, this program aims to graduate physicians who are technically skilled in the care of pediatric patients and who will become leaders in the field through education, research, and innovation. The fellowship will offer training with the department’s 12 dedicated Pediatric Anesthesia faculty, including Drs. Taran Sangari and Timothy Martin, who along with Dr. Timothy Morey were instrumental in the creation and accreditation of this program.
Fellows will gain experience in general pediatrics as well as pediatric subspecialties including pediatric cardiac, pain, and critical care. Clinical education experiences include providing anesthesia for procedures in and out of the operating rooms as well as pre-anesthesia preparation and post-anesthesia care, pain management, and advanced life support for neonates, infants, children, and adolescents.
