Fritz-Gerald Charles is the recipient of the 2018 JS Gravenstein Award. This award is presented each year to an outstanding University of Florida College of Medicine graduate who intends to pursue anesthesiology.
Dr. Charles was selected by the UF Department of Anesthesiology leadership based on his record of achievements and demonstrated interest in anesthesiology. Most recently, Dr. Charles worked with our Drs. Bruce Spiess and Chris Giordano on groundbreaking research regarding Vitamin B-12 and its chemical structure.
Before attending UF’s College of Medicine, Dr. Charles earned his undergraduate degree in Pre-Health Professions from FAU in 2014. He also earned a B.S. in Nuclear Medicine Technology from Barry University in 2009, and an AA in Pharmacy from Broward College in 2006. With research partners, Dr. Charles presented a poster, Slow-Cycling Tumor Stem Cell Based Immunotherapy for Malignant Glioma, at the 2016 UF COM Celebration of Research.
Dr. Charles will join the Anesthesiology Residency Program as a PGY1 resident on July 1, 2018.
