Dr. Cameron Smith joined the department in July, 2017, as an Assistant Professor.
Dr. Smith hails from Ottawa, Ontario in Canada. He joined us after completing his Fellowship in Acute and Peri-operative Pain Medicine at the University of Florida. Prior to this, he did his Anesthesiology residency training and a research fellowship at the University of Florida as the Gravenstein Scholar in Clinical and Translational Science.
Dr. Smith attended medical school at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, where he also completed a Doctor of Philosophy in Physiology and Biophysics. Preceding this, he completed both a Master of Science degree in Pharmacology at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Ontario and a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science at the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario. Outside the hospital, Dr. Smith is both an avid SCUBA diver and an accomplished bassist.
Dr. Smith has made a significant number of contributions to peer-reviewed publications and abstracts and has been a PI or co-investigator of several funded studies.
