The 7th Annual Hands-On Pearls and Pitfalls of Perioperative Cardiac Imaging and Devices Symposium was held on Saturday, June 17th, 2017.
This program featured a morning symposium and an afternoon hands-on workshop with a variety of devices.
Participants learned:
- How to describe the fundamental principles of a variety of mechanical circulatory support devices
- To discuss the best method for safe interrogation and perioperative reprogramming of permanent pacemakers and defibrillators
- To identify the potential mechanical faults of intra-aortic balloon pumps, left ventricular assist devices, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation circuits
- To explain the basic knowledge and skills of perioperative TEE/TTE exam and lung ultrasound to assist intraoperative diagnosis for critical ill patients
