UF Health Shands Hospital designated as “Baby-Friendly”

Please join us in congratulating our colleagues whose dedication to our mother and infant patients has resulted in the prestigious “Baby-Friendly” designation for UF Health Shands Hospital.

UF Health is the state’s first academic health center to receive this recognition from Baby-Friendly USA, which is a program of the World Health Organization and UNICEF. It distinguishes birthing facilities that support mothers with specific breast-feeding practices and resources. Please see the news release below for details.

We thank our College of Medicine OB/GYN and pediatrics faculty and staff, mother/baby nursing teams, operations colleagues, quality and patient safety experts and everyone involved for your devotion to providing the very best start for babies born in our hospital.

This award is another reflection of the collaboration and patient-centered care that is a hallmark of UF Health. We have progressed “Forward Together” and now we are harnessing “The Power of Together” as we continue to celebrate great milestones.

With patients at the heart of everything we do, and our commitment to providing the highest-quality care, it is rewarding to receive external validation and recognition. Thank you for your tremendous work to serve our patients and families.
