Funding Awarded for Translational Pilot Project

Funding for the Translational Pilot Project (TPP), “Pragmatic Clinical Trial of Race‐Specific Response to Propofol Infusion Titrated to Effect for Procedural Sedation During Endoscopy”, has been approved by the UF Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI).

Samsun Lampotang, PhD, is the principal investigator on the project and Nikolaus Gravenstein, MD, and Jeffrey White, MD, are co-principal investigators.

A key focus for the 2017-18 cycle is a “learning health system” approach that emphasizes engagement of clinicians and integration of translational research into the clinical environment.

The CTSI was founded to speed the translation of scientific discoveries into improved health. The Translational Pilot Program is supported in part by the CTSI’s Clinical and Translational Science Award funded through the NIH National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences, which defines translation as “the process of turning observations in the laboratory, clinic and community into interventions that improve the health of individuals and the public — from diagnostics and therapeutics to medical procedures and behavioral changes.”

Congratulations and good luck on your project, Doctors!
