Dear Applicant: Download Fellowship application
Thank you very much for your interest in our Cardiovascular Anesthesia Fellowship Program. We certainly welcome all qualified applicants to apply for this fellowship position. Our Division, along with the Division of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, offers an excellent training program for all incoming fellows and includes perioperative management of complex and diverse cardiac as well as thoracic cases (ascending and descending aortic aneurysms repair, endoluminal stent AAA and DTAA repair, aortic dissection repair, heart and lung transplantation, ventricular assist device placement, complex pediatric cardiac surgery, valve repair and replacement, and coronary artery bypass surgery).
Our program and the Cardiology Division have set up a strong curriculum to meet the fellow’s perioperative TEE training requirements (average 10-12 weeks designated echocardiography training time). All fellows (including some of our residents) who have graduated from our program have passed the National Board of Echocardiography Perioperative TEE Exam. There are also some basic and clinical research opportunities for the fellows who are interested in developing his or her academic career in the future. Our CV anesthesia fellowship has obtained ACGME accreditation status. Since July 2008, fellowship training has included postoperative care of cardiothoracic surgery patients (up to two months of CICU training was added into the overall fellowship training requirement).
Our current caseload and concomitant parallel commitment toward resident education allows for us to accept two fellows per year. I strongly encourage you to apply as soon as possible. All applications must be received by June 1st, the interview process will be completed by June 30th and a decision will be made in early July. You can download our program fellowship application form via this link. Please send your complete application package, including your personal statement and three reference letters to the address below. You can also contact me, Yong Peng, MD , or our fellowship program coordinator, Mrs. Colleen Kearney, if you have additional questions. All positions for the 2015/2016 academic year have been filled.
