Dr. Duce is an Assistant Professor for the Division of Cardiothoracic Anesthesia. He comes to us from Duke University where he completed a fellowship in Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesia. There, he conducted blood conservation research where he studied outcomes of blood refusal patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Dr. Duce earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Florida State University and his medical degree at the University of South Florida, where he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. He also competed a general surgery internship at the University of Michigan as well as his anesthesiology residency at Northwestern University.
Dr. Duce is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) and currently serves as the Residency Rotation Director for residents in the cardiothoracic anesthesia rotation. He has both clinical and research interests in transfusion medicine and blood conservation methods.
