They call him standard man, or “Stan” for short. UF’s patient simulator breathes, reacts like the real thing
He was a star of the show as the University of Florida College of Medicine showed off its patient simulator technology during patient safety and quality week.
UF doctors and researchers invented this human patient simulator in the early 1990s. Stan spent this week laid out on a hospital bed in a fourth-flour simulator lab in the George T. Harrell Medical Education Building. He wore a pair of Champion brand gray workout shorts over his rubbery skin, which covered his insides of tubes and mechanical parts.
