I am delighted to report that Timothy W. Martin, MD, has happily agreed to accept the responsibilities of Associate Chair for Education and Residency Program Director effective February 13, 2016.  Tim has a long history of educating anesthesiology residents and pediatric anesthesiology fellows. The following are some educational highlights that show how fortunate we are:
  • Spent his entire career in anesthesiology medical education following military service with the US Air Force
  • Served as anesthesiology residency Program Director at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center
  • Spent 13 years as Associate Chair for Education at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
  • Served on many anesthesiology education committees over the years (e.g., resident education committee, selection committee, etc.)
  • Has administrative experience as Chief of Staff and a member of the Board of Directors at the Arkansas Children’s Hospital
  • Maintains board certification in anesthesiology and pediatric anesthesiology, along with active participation in maintenance of certification
  • Serves as an oral examiner for the American Board of Anesthesiology
  • Authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in pediatric and general anesthesia together with fellows and residents
  • Serves on the editorial board of Anesthesia and Analgesia
Dr. Martin, a Professor of Anesthesiology, will continue our forward momentum, matching new residents in a few weeks, planning for our new residents in July, graduating our CA3 residents and fellows, expanding the simulator experiential center at the Harrell Medical Education Building, advancing our curricula, enrolling additional faculty into the educational program, and other scholastic activities.
Please welcome Dr. Martin to his new role and join me in supporting him as our new Associate Chair for Education and residency Program Director.
Most sincerely yours,
