Dr. Cometa Joins the Department

Michael Tony Cometa, MD, joined us on August 31, 2015 as an Assistant Professor from Bellingham Anesthesia Associates, P.S., in Bellingham, Washington, where he was a Staff Anesthesiologist. Dr. Cometa originally attended University of Florida, where he completed his Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Food Science and Human Nutrition. He then studied at Loma Linda University School of Medicine to earn his medical degree. He interned in internal medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his residency back at UF in Anesthesiology. Dr. Cometa is medically licensed in both Washington and Florida, including being certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is a member in many professional societies such as the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Washington State Society of Anesthesiologists, and the Florida Medical Association. He was “Resident of the Month” in the Department of Anesthesiology at UF, along with other nominations and awards. He has also contributed to a several publications and lectures. We are excited to have such an accomplished doctor joining us, and we ask you to help us welcome him back as a faculty member to the department and university!
